Gees a swatch of yer fanny

Gees a Swatch of Yer Fanny

If you grew up in Scotland watching Chewin’ the Fat, you’ll know exactly where this is going.

Back when Scottish telly was actually funny and nobody gave a flying fuck about offending somebody, we had Jack and Victor, the Banter Boys, Ronald Villiers and a whole collection of absolute rockets.

And then there was that immortal line.

“Gees a swatch of yer fanny!”

The kind of thing you’d hear on the telly one night, then spend the next fortnight shouting at your mates in the playground.

That was the beauty of Chewin’ the Fat. It wasn’t some polished, American-style comedy. It was Scottish humour, Scottish accents, Scottish patter and characters that genuinely reminded you of folk you’d met down the pub or wandering about your scheme.

Some of the sketches were absolutely ridiculous, but that’s what made them brilliant.

And the best bit? All these years later, you can still stick on an old clip and end up laughing like a daft bastard.

Here’s the Classic Clip

Go on, tell me you didn’t laugh.

Scottish comedy at its finest. They really don’t make them like that anymore.
